After WANTING to be a generalist but becoming a full time writer for nearly three years now, I want everyone out there to know that you REALLY have to know if you even can become a pony for such a long time.
Sitting here and writing in essentially the same format for years might not have broken me, but it drained me. As amazing as the people are I worked with and as fun as it was at times, I will never again NOT insist on being used like I communicated.
All my creativity got sucked dry day by day from "having" to do the same thing over and over again so much so that I couldn't even continue on private projects due to how empty I felt every evening.
No matter the diversity you might have at home, HAVING to do one thing for 8 hours a day every day with no parole is something I will avoid in the future, as long as it isn't exactly the department I can see myself doing "the same" for years.
Knowing that it will take me some time to get back to my "old" creativity still, I just hope more people have a chance to do what they really want
