War games? Sure, but they're also for the history and military buffs, not just for desensitizing people to killing. Even so, if corrected with proper parenting elsewhere, it shouldn't have any effect on a child's view of morality and killing.
I was a big fan of the Call of Duty and Doom franchises as a kid, but I haven't been negatively affected by them because I was raised in a house with guns, understanding the full weight and responsibility of what happens when you aim it at a living creature and pull the trigger.

I don't know why some people disagree, I agree with the fact that while a little violence that's for realism isn't terrible, outright violence and gore is. Guys, that stuff carries weight even if it's virtual. I remember seeing my brothers friend play mortal kombat and I felt pretty sick to my stomach. Just play normal games, with little violence or just fantasy violence like Legend of Zelda (Link only fights monsters not humans, light flashes instead of blood etc.)

Its a matter of individual Christian conscience relative to balancing liberty in Christ and avoiding evil. For me its a game by game basis. Is it also a sin for children to play war or cowboys and indians? What about adults playing paintball? Paintball is the similitude of people shooting one another in combat. Video games are new, but playing or simulating war is not. Some violent games I play with a clear conscience. Others I do not and therefore I donāt play those. Its really the same decision making process a Christian has to navigate with movie or TV show content.

I've experienced firsthand the results of two family members who were addicted to computer games. My dad got delivered in a miraculous way. My brother is still addicted, that's all he lives for. He has no life outside of his gaming, neither did my dad. So I must say I agree with giving gaming the boot.

Sir, scripture is necessary to back your argument, not just to say "It's violent so Christians shouldn't do it." As a dear friend once told me, "Chapter and verse for that!" King David went to war many times against the enemies of God's people - and I guarantee bringing 200 foreskins to be betrothed to Saul's daughter was pretty bloody and violent. Phinehas, Aaron's grandson, speared a couple people for committing sin, and he received God's blessing. There are many such examples of violence in the Bible. A better argument against violent video games would probably start in Phillipians 4:8. The question asked should be, does it glorify God?

To quote a line from a (nonviolent!) video game, "Don't ask if you can, ask if you should."
It's honestly a great approach to life.
I would consider myself a Christian gamer, but I do NOT play any gorey games with that kind of violence against people, or worse, any games that include sexual content, regardless of if it's something you can skip or not. If it's in a game, I'm out. I don't want to support anything like that because it really doesn't honor God.

Iām glad you always specify what games youāre talking aboutā¦ cause for a while I would hear stuff like this and think āoh no, is Lego city undercover and super Mario a sin?āš
and yeah, anything out of proportion is still a sin, but thereās definitely a big difference between chilling to Kirby or Sonic the Hedgehog after a long day and chilling to Haloš thereās a ton of options that donāt involve mindless violenc

1. The Adversary is extremely crafty and works at the margins.
2. What we accept as marginally tolerable, may just be another tiny victory in separating us from Godās perfect will for our lives.
3. Like a slight shift in the rudder of a ship, eventually we could find ourselves way off course.
4. Sail carefully. š
