I think it's very interesting that one of the earliest points you can run into them is in the Liurnia, on the shores of the Lake. A place where multiple armies clashed; the Fire Monks, Raya Lucaria's Cuckoo knights, and the Carian knights to name the few who still have a presence in the area. Who knows what linds of mercenary forces were under the employ of these great powers at their height? I think that's neat anyway.
