A note from Voices in Vegan Studies speaker series organizer, Professor Jonathan Dickstein, PhD on our upcoming Voices in Vegan Studies speaker series event on Monday, July 15 with Dr. Cheryl Abbate:
"Hi, I'm Jonathan Dickstein, professor at Arihanta Institute and lead organizer of the Vegan Studies Initiative. I'm here today to invite you to the next talk in the Voices in Vegan Studies speaker series. This talk, titled "New Ethical Issues in Contemporary Veganism," is with Dr. Cheryl Abbate from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I invited Dr. Abbate to talk about some of the more atypical issues in vegan studies, such as: What are the ethics of consuming animal products that one did not purchase oneself? Or the ethics of retrieving eggs from so called backyard chickens? Or what about the ethics of consuming arguably non-sentient organisms such as oysters, mussels, and insects. Join us!"
