When I was working on an oceanographic survey ship, we attached a mesh laundry bag to one of our instruments and let the crew doodle on styrofoam coffee cups and sent them down to 7000m. I still have mine, thing went down a 12oz coffee cup and came up perfectly shrank to a thimble drawing, writing and all lol. Amazing what kind of pressure you have that deep!

A friend of mine used to work for the National Marine Fisheries (NOAA) and she went on a research cruise to Antartica. One of the experiments was to take deep water samples. All the new crew got to attach a Styrofoam coffee cup with their name on it and send it down with the sampler. It went deep enough so that the cup came up smaller than a shot glass.

This is actually really cool, I've seen experiments where they take a Styrofoam cup on a submersible and bring it down to the sea floor at 20k feet and it shrinks the cup to the size of a thimble. So Seeing something similar happen with the little crusher is cool
