This is eye opening!!! I never ever thought of splitting up the aerobic work! I dread the long slow base building slog! It wears my legs out more than it seems to benefit my fitness! To be able to do aerobic base building at a speed higher than I could do a long slow run is something I would never have dreamed of! I don't want to be a marathon runner and this idea of breaking up the aerobic runs into shorter faster intervals is profound!
I do hope I've understood the concept right!! Also, having only just discovered 400m.. I think the 400m runners have the best bodies and running form of any runners I've seen! Thank you so much for this brief but informative aerobic training breakdown.
