Authentic religion can exist but the ego of man has to be at bay.

If we look at statistics it’s obvious that countries with more secular societies are vastly more harmonious than religious ones. Not to mention all the atrocities religion has caused for the world which I think our way many of its benefits. However, I will say beliefs and practices hold a necessary and integral part of the human condition one that should be explored further, but through the unbiased study of history, psychology, philosophy, and yes historical theology

We are not all one. We all are our own unique sovereign spirit. Our own entity. Praising any other entity outside of ourselves has lead us to this enslavement we’re in : giving up our sovereignty, now living with faith and belief. Whereas if we recognized our power and our immortality we would no longer be living in faith and belief as we would now, know and trust.

I always find the idea that society needs religion to be at the very least Unintelligent. We need aware intelligent people that care about what happens around them. That is all you really need.

I see allot of criticism for religion and the bible in the comments, and I can't blame anyone for feeling/thinking this way.
I have felt a lot of hate for Christianity (or believe in general) myself for a long time!

But this also posed a major problem when I 'decided' there is no God, because then what is the purpose/meaning of life when you are at your lowest point? You just suffer, without reason? Maybe do some "questionable bad things" or say the hell with it all -- 'may God if he exists drop death from the heavens' -- now imagine you believe this, what makes it real? What makes any of this have any meaning of actual value?!

Non of it does, because life has no meaning of value, it's all lies told for power, yet you somehow can't let go just yet, something deeper inside of you resists, you can't feel it but you know. Welcome, you are now in hell, descended into the underworld (your unconscious), life has lost all value and it's end will not guarantee relieve, because there is no heaven and if there is, what makes you so sure you can enter? Something inside you wants take revenge upon the world for what it did to you, will it change anything? NO! But it feels so good, is this you who really wants this? Or something else? You know, you just know.

I have experienced too many things that I cannot explain rationally, including foretelling dreams (over 30) and some other things, so even if I could reason myself out of it I know there is something more. The world isn't just matter, even atheism is believing. And I believe there is more, God is only word (a signpost) but it's not what's real, even religion knows this. Not designed to hold the truth, but to provide guidance towards it.

Now coming back to the bible, even if you don't believe in God, the stories in the bible have survived for thousands of years, that doesn't just happen, even today many people are drawn to them. Why? Carl Jung talked about the Archetypes, and the biblical stories share a strong message "if" you pay close attention to what they are telling you, the Book Job mainly (God is omnipresent, thus nature and the universe, do you control any of this? NO, so you better pay close attention, you better 'fear God' than to be arrogant and think you are powerful enough to get away with anything).

The most important thing I have learned is to ask; what will happen if? (the stories actually reveal this underneath), how is this real? why is this good/bad? how do you define good/bad better/worse? -- What is the world worth without value.

Don't see the stories as something that is real, but who have consequence when real. As it's better to believe something that is most likely real than to have absolute no foundational structure (or order of things) as that makes life, especially in hard times unbearable. And that is Hell, I have seen it. I know it's real.

The truth (that which is most real) will set you free, which means (in my understanding, from the Power of Now) if you accept reality for what is without rejection or denial, and let be what 'is' you will be free (which isn't to say you can't do anything when things aren't good, it's to accept that reality or faith doesn't let it self be controlled by you, so stop resisting that what is).

One final warning though when it comes to following any religion/ideology blindly (including the bible) without critical thinking and question it's true purpose/meaning, and thinking you are doing good, for 'all who do evil the name of good shall preach to the Devil' - Sebastiaan Stok (me).
Is this really good for me? And how will that effect the world, and how will that effect me? (As an example).

Just to mention, I am doing much better than before, the Christian values (that I now understand better) have helped to restore myself, yet I don't go church or anything as that doesn't align with my specific views.

i do not believe a religious outlook is a relation to the infinite but a relation to the eternal, immovable, immutable

infinity is too easily conflated with "bigness"

Believing in something greater then ourselves is essential to have a meaningful life. The proof is the multi generational continuity provided by this belief. Those who do not believe in the "greater" will live for the "moment" and self extinguish with their life style.

Non religious people promoting religion is really strange. Religion never went away, theocracy and monarchy in Europe is what died and that's a good thing, it wasn't sustainable as the world and people grew and changed. God, King, and Country are no longer a holy trinity forced upon the people, "how the mighty have fallen"... again this is good 🙏

According to Lenin's theory, religion is "opium for the people" and the man is right. It has to be that way in order for the state to maintain social cohesion in conditions of underdeveloped productive forces. And where people are unhappy, like the countries of Gabon, El Salvador, Egypt. But in the countries of the post-industrial economic level it is redundant and unnecessary. People are happy and the main dilemma is whether to buy Mars or Snickers chocolate bars. Like a countries like Canada, Sweden, France. As the American philosopher Francis Fukuyama beautifully said, the consumer society of liberal democracy is the "End of History". Or as the philosophers Frederick Jameson and Slavoj Žižek say, the end of the world can be imagined rather than the end of capitalism.

I believe all religions start off with good intentions and many may have even brought about a golden age. But that golden age is a brief part of that religions history as power and corruption over the religion begins to follow suit. When lunatics and fanatics bend the meaning of religion to their own interpretation.

Religions all have the one golden rule. "To treat others the way you want yourself to be treated". This in itself is a brilliant purpose that religion can bring to everyones lives however as time goes on that meaning gets distorted in a historical game of chinese whispers.

I am a spiritual person myself and I believe that religion itself can help to focus peoples attention away from consumerism, drugs, external pressure and help to influence peoples lives in a better way. But its also a very dangerous power play that can destroy society. Its a power that should be taken with strong responsibility.

To answer that question, no. Religion is one of the main culprits that got us into the mess we are in today.

No religion can be just as dangerous as a lack of religion. As long as people are willing to twist others for power there will always be corruption and abuse of others.
