At the end of the day I agree, this is “super easy”; however, you need to apply the practice overtime.
He’s referring to how when you understand scales and songs you come to recognize patterns, those patterns are intervals, and when you can understand how intervals travel on the guitar — replicating or producing a specific sound become more simple/intuitive.
Not only will it help you with guitar it help you with traveling notes on any instrument, as intervals are universal and recognizable no matter the instrument.
