this is so crucial, I am not even aware how I brake.

Thanks for calling me weak. I'll go cry now. You made an autistic man cry, Daniel.

Finally! This short clip answered a handful of questions. No one has been able to explain this to me clearly and quickly. TY!

Thank you for making these kind of videos. I’ve had questions like this, but I’ve never seen a content creator besides Daniel and Steliyan (Race Beyond Matter) discuss how a race car driver uses the brake pedal. It seems like it would be common sense, but it seems like there is definitely a technique for efficiency and injury avoidance.

Thank you for this!! I sometimes almost get a Charlie horse from the tension in my leg while I’m braking because I’m trying to brake with my foot/ankle instead of my quad. I’ve done your technique by accident a few times and instantly felt like it was more effective. This makes perfect sense!

Another thing to mention is not using the anterior tib muscle to release the pedal. This will absolutely wreak your knees, give you shin splints, and just hurt in general.

I feel like I do this until about halfway through a race, then I lose focus and start understeering. Such an important habit to develop

I honestly don't really understand how people understand what the brakes or accelerator are doing when sim racing. I'm still learning on my wheel and pedal set up and its almost like nothing is there even with the increase in required brake force and a good feeling set of elastomer. It just seems like I'm either locking up or not braking anywhere near enough. It may also be because I'm playing F1 24 but I mainly got a wheel set up for this series and I haven't had one since bungee cords were a breakthrough technology.

I am struggling with this since i started wearing shoes (because i got loadcells). The shoes have too much grip and it drags my heel and it also grips on the pedal too much which makes me inconsistent. How do you do this with shoes?

Question, I have a Simucube passive throttle and active brake. The throttle is more of an issue than the brake, but I find myself lifting my heel up to go full throttle, do you have any setup tips I can try?

If only this applied to those using affordable pedals 😂 no hate just bust out the g29 pedals or some mid $5-600 range pedals for the masses. Whatever is comfortable you’ll be fast with it KEEP GRINDING SIM HOMIES

O prefer to use right foot, by far... also not co confuse with daily real driving, where left foot breaking is a kill in regular (not racing) real street cars. Yes, I know if I shift, within 1 year I'll be 0.1s quicker... but I don't really mind, Instill can win and beat left foot breakers 😅
