there is a key issue. people who are selling on a specialty site for vintage woodworking tools typically have a good idea what they're selling, and how much you may want it.

still gonna take a peek, but thats just an initial thought

they dont know what they have on ebay so its impossible to find but its also crazy cheap if you do manage to find them.

Just know that while you will find awesome tools, the sellers will know what they are selling, this means better items but at a cost, so it would be good if you want specific tools, but local antique stores can usually supply much cheaper starters.

I'm don't have time to get into woodworking but I enjoy the channel. In my experience, once friends and family find out you are into a hobby, they will just give you tools and stuff that they inherited and can't bring themselves to throw out. I think I've only actually paid for about a third of the tools I own, the rest I've been gifted.

Love this idea. Would be great if it eventually had a mechanics, electronics, electrical, and bike tools section too. That would make it the perfect tool commerce platform.

It would be funny if tooltrader evolved like how Amazon was originally just books

Seems a little short sighted to have a website selling vintage tools for only woodworking. Woodworkers are far from the only group who needs vintage tools. Blacksmiths are a big one, but, mechanics, miners, stone masons, and probably more all love their vintage tools. As a metalworker, there's no compromise on antique forge blowers, because they simply don't make decent ones anymore.

Flea markets, estate sales and second hand shops are my favorite places for solid tools.

I have a Handyman that I’ve done almost nothing to aside from sharpening the iron. It takes absolutely beautiful curls and I sometimes prefer it to the more vintage restored Stanleys I have.

My grandfather was a woodworker. He passed away recently. None of his kids or grandchildren are into woodworking like he was, so now we have to sort out the stuff in his shop. Maybe this is a way to get some value out of his stuff.

Antique stores typically have a tool section, or the tools may be spread out across the different booths, but they usually have tools.

I could have used this as I cleaned up after my father died. He was into wood working, unlike me, so I tried to pass on his entire collection to someone who could use it. I found out later I had just given away thousands.

I'd rather buy an "old" tool instead of a "vintage" tool.

I've seen rusty #5s with broken totes, chipped bodies and pitted blades on eBay for $50. Everyone on eBay thinks that doesn't matter as long as it says Stanley
