How to Work All 4 Muscles that Make Up the Quads with the Leg Extension Machine!

Here’s how to work all 4 parts of the quadriceps (rectus femoris, Vastus lateralis, Vastus medialis, and Vastus intermedialis) with the leg extension machine!

The big key is lining up the line of action of the muscle you want to focus on, with the machine/extension of the lower leg. To do this, you will be pointing your toes in different directions to focus on different parts of the quads:

1) Toes Out = Vastus Medialis
2) Toes Forward = Rectus Femoris and Vastus Intermedialis
3) Toes In = Vastus Lateralis

not only can you not isolate any of them without hitting the others, but you also got it backwards, go outwards for the vastus lateralis

Just train until failure, then dropset till failure. Whatever muscles that don't get emphasis will kick in to compensate.

Can I ask, would it be smart to train all 3 angles in one leg workout?

I have a question. Let’s say I have an imbalance in my quads. In one of my legs the Vastus Medialis is much stronger and contracts much harder than the other heads. But in my other leg the Vastus Lateralis is the more dominant one. Should I rotate one foot inwards and the other out?
