I truly felt sorry for Shane. Why he was trying to explain everything to Laurie. At that point in time he was not obsessed with Laurie. He really thought Rick was dead and he was going to take care of his best friends family granted in the graphic comic. He always had a little crush on Laurie, but never to the point where he would’ve acted on it he actually thought Rick was dead.

Funny thing is Shane is being HONEST about what happened. He didn't just LEAVE Rick, as far as he knew those machines WERE keeping him alive.

There is only two explanations, rick is immune because he clinically died. He woke up weeks after while we see when some one dies it doesn't take weeks to come back as walker. Or when shane tried to pick up rick he unplugged part of the machine

this is why this show was so good, the moral, emotional decisions dilemas that the characters used to go through was very captivating to watch and follow. best show ever made up till season 6-7

Shane was never truly in the wrong...
People say he liked Lori before the apocalypse but it's not true, he honored ricks wishes to keep his family safe.
It's only natural honestly that Lori and Shane would have grown close in rick's absence, their shared grief would have naturally brought them closer due to the fact that neither of them had anyone else they could vent too who would share in their pain. It's scientifically proven that people who experience the same traumatic event form extremely close bonds, it's why your war buddies are on a completely different level of trust and level of relationship than others

This scene is so good. You can hear in Shane's voice that he really loved Rick. I liked that in that first episode you notice the hospital bed in front of Rick's room, like someone tried to protect him somehow.

Shane is an example of how some characters we meet later on become evil. Shit even Negan wasn't bad before the apocalypse, but he did down the line. Shane was a good guy but he let his greed and misery consume him.
It is truth that Shane adapted to the walkers earlier than others. After Rick killed Shane, I think it helped Rick to realize that Shane was right and that the world wasn't going to go back to normal. But Rick needed to kill him in order for him to realize that. Shane trying to steal Lori and Carl from him is just the driver.
