On Saturday, a group of armed Israeli settlers entered the village of Hammamat Al Maleh in the North Jordan Valley, used the village well, and bathed in the stream near the 200-year-old Palestinian mill at the centre of the village.
Settlers across the West Bank have been using this same tactic, with the aim of laying claim to Palestinian water sources.
Two months ago, settlers established a pastoral outpost close to Al Maleh, and since then they have been harassing the villagers in the night, including by cutting water pipes and setting fire to trees. They have also tried to steal livestock from the villagers. Thus, these individual acts of aggression add up to a coordinated campaign of colonization.
