Look, while it might not be optimal, other than the fact that if he had fenders on his starboard side, nothing would have gone wrong. In a strong crosswind like this, it is very common in the Med to lean on the leeward boat until you position yourself with the windward stern line.

The approach itself might have been better with a technique that resists the wind, but that’s not always possible—maybe he didn’t have enough space for such an approach. That’s something to keep in mind and start practicing your with-the-wind approaches because sometimes that’s what you’ll have to work with.

And for a with-the-wind approach, he did well—keeping the bow and boat perpendicular and getting ready for impact. Just a bit more fenders, and this approach would have been good.
