The Batmobile from the original Batman TV series (1966–1968) starring Adam West is one of the most iconic vehicles in pop culture. It was based on a 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car, which was heavily customized by renowned car designer George Barris. The Futura's futuristic design made it the perfect foundation for the Batmobile, and with a tight deadline, Barris transformed it into Batman’s crime-fighting vehicle in just a few weeks.The Batmobile’s bold design and futuristic features became instantly recognizable, playing a huge part in the show’s campy, comic book-inspired style. George Barris kept the original Batmobile after the series ended, and it has since become a coveted piece of TV memorabilia, with one of the original Batmobiles selling for over $4 million at auction in 2013.
