When I saw the Stones at the Rose Bowl my biggest takeaway was how good it sounded. It was so loud (loud enough to squash all the conversation of all the people who don't have the attention span to actually watch a concert). I could audibly pick out any instrument on the stage that I desired. And, my ears didn't hurt. It was exquisite. This guy appears to know what he's doing.

His biggest trick, he finds the resonate frequency of every venue and uses it to shake the building. On tour we joke that Dave should sign every loading dock with the buildings frequency.

I used this video as a starting point to EQ the overall house mix for my church this past weekend. The result was amazing, not to mention our senior pastor, who has a background in sound/production, told me that the vocals sounded really clean. It was a simple adjustment, but oh so effective.

I understand that this explanation was for drums, however, I am a very loud baritone who loves to sing pop at the top of my vocal range and I just applied the concept of this video into my eq (because I was producing something for my vocals) and the harshness in my voice has suddenly disappeared. It also produced the "Lewis Capaldi" sound that I've been searching for. Thank you so much!

I absolutely love this. There are so many who moralize settings and parot nonsense they once heard from another that I've often found myself disnissive of those who pay close attention to the mix. But to hear how good things can sound when everything is working together, the gear, the room, the music or voice or instruments, that's just something amazing that has to be experienced. I never got Sinatra until one day when I walked into an Army surplus store where they had one of his records playing on an old system. The sound was amazing through those old speakers as it bounced between the brick walls, the hardwood plank floors, and the surplus garments, and my experience of Sinatra was forever changed. It was as if I had never truly heard his voice and the accompanying orcheatra until that day.

I have zero knowledge on sound engineering and I understood his explanation. It just shows how good he is.
