German car manufacturers need to stop doing this! #porsche #audi #mercedes #bmw

How is it possible that a Porche with more weight and less power destroys a McLaren and a Lamborghini, or a BMW M4 inferior on paper destroys a GTR.

Well, its pretty simple, the german manufacturers massively understate their performance figures.

Take the 911 turbo s for example, it is supposed to make 650 horse power but in reality its producing around 770, or the m5cs which on paper is stated at 635 horse power but as tested in a dyno produces around 700

They aren’t destroying supercars because they are lying; they are destroying supercars because they are faster

giving the customer better quality than they asked and paid for is a completely alien concept to American companies.

Me: I want to return this car
German dealer: why?
Me: you said it only has 600, but it has 770 hp!

And I love that about German cars. They don't brag about the numbers and don't burn tires or make loud noises. They just do whatever it supposed to do. ❤

I would call them "Shameless Liars" if they claimed 600hp but gave us 300hp. I wonder if this guy would go to a restaurant and complain if the food was too good?

To correct a few assumptions in the comments:

- In Germany, power is NOT measured at the wheel, but at the engine outlet before the gearbox, using standard fuel; the fan, water pump, cooling air fan, fuel pump, injection pump and unloaded alternator must also be operated. (DIN 70020-6)
- The power that the engine can deliver THERMALLY (theoretically) endlessly applies.
- Until 1972, power was measured in the USA WITHOUT auxiliary units, which is why historical power figures, e.g. from muscle cars, are regularly very high.
- Since 1972, SAE J2723 is applied in the USA, the measurement of which is different but the results are very similar to those of the DIN 70020-6 measurement. Thus: this is not the reason for the differences.
- A car must be marketed with the performance specifications of the country in which it is sold anyway. I.e. a Porsche is offered in the USA with SAE PS specifications.
- Tax in Germany is NOT calculated according to performance. But insurance is (and to a few other factors, in particular the number of years without accidents)
- Most youtube channels and car enthusiasts measure their cars power with dynos. Roller dynamometers are notoriously inaccurate - deviations of 20% from the actual performance are not uncommon (for various reasons) … of course nobody wants to believe it.

And also - guys - the title of the video with "shameless liars" to then reveal that they allegedly deliberately understate performance is of course clickbait. You don't have to take that seriously!

Maybe cuz the us measures HP at the crank, and the Europeans measure it at the rear wheels...
Which is why a gt500 mustang thats supposed to have 500hp doesnt showw 500 hp on a dyno, but if a german car says it has 500hp, it will show 500hp on a dyno...
Simple huh?
...and they arent lying...

A 911 turbo s destroys supercars because of the unmatched PDM gearbox, that can actually transfer the power to the wheels, not because of the 100 hp more that the car produces
