Growing up in Utah as a CATHOLIC and having people give me dirty looks for wearing a cross was something else, man. It always felt like I was being held to Mormon standards without being Mormon myself. Except I didn’t know what the rules were until I accidentally pissed someone off. The constant walking on eggshells was seriously so exhausting.

OMG... I live in Brazil, and the Mormon church is trying SO HARD to get converts here, it kind of pisses me off... I keep seeing this ads on YouTube of them trying to get people to go to their website with promises of "help from God" using prompts like "do you feel like you need help?".
Many people fall for it, because Brazil is a poor country, and so many people don't have a proper education and are just feeling tired and looking for help. It's also a very religious country, so this "christian rebranding" unfortunately works. Poor and naive people fall prey to this religious organization that takes 10% of their income. Note that the minimum wage here is 245 dollars A MONTH, and that is what the majority of the population makes...
I see LDS chapels opening in pretty much every city nowadays. It's sickening. However, the mormons aren't the first cult to think of doing this. The JWs, the Seventh day Adventists, random pentecostal churches that promise prosperity and many others are big around here. Preying on poor people seems to be a very successful way of growing cults.

I'm a former protestant who converted to Catholicism while living in Utah and this video is SO interesting to me 😂. As a protestant, I'd never have worn or seen a crucifix but "empty" crosses were fine, for the similar reasons about not celebrating the death of Jesus. Now as a Catholic, the crucifix just reminds me of the suffering Jesus bore for me. We celebrate his life, death, and resurrection, with Good Friday being the most solemn day of the year and Easter being the biggest feast day. I have seen more Mormons in Utah wearing crosses lately, so I guess the tide is changing in my age demographic

I was a very scandalous missionary and I’d wear this pretty little cross pendant that a mainstream Christian friend had given me sometimes… my first mission president, who I admire and respect to this day, said it was between me and the Lord if I should wear it, my second mission president was a jerk so you can guess what he said 😂

Wearing a cross is absolutely forbidden. Wearing magic underwear is absolutely required. Makes perfect sense to me.
