Story goes that in the original movie they use the lake that was on my great grandmother's farm to shoot the lake scenes there. Can't remember exactly where the farm was but it was up in North west Sussex county, in the area of Stillwater and blairstown

There's a camping grounds on the out skirts of Algonquin IL that used to have a big sign out front welcoming locals to camp Crystal lake. Last I saw it's a dirt road leading to the lake and the old buildings for campers and staff

I think in the continuity of Jason Goes To Hell, Camp Crystal Lake has been retconned to be in Connecticut.
I remember reading a Fangoria article from the 1990s about the New Line film JGTH, saying that the first 8 Friday The 13th films from Paramount Pictures are pieces of fiction, and that THIS is the real world.
