觀眾對電影的第一印象很多時候來自預告片。在濃縮為數分鐘的片段中，既將最精采的場面呈現，同時賣個關子，為電影情節留下懸念。短而精要的預告片，絕對考驗剪接師的功力。

香港電影資料館正舉行「萬象之華——香港電影預告片珍藏展」，精選 1940 年代至今的電影預告，並分門別類作免費展示，包括《七十二家房客》（1963、1973）、《死亡遊戲》（1978）、《阿飛正傳》（1990）等經典作品，同時設置剪接師、演員、導演、監製、發行等影人的訪談錄像，讓參觀者多角度欣賞電影藝術。

A film’s trailer often shapes the audience’s expectations for a film. These short snippets, condensed from hours of footage, can reveal the most captivating scenes yet leave viewers with a lingering sense of mystery. Creating an effective trailer requires the skillful touch of a talented editor.

The Hong Kong Film Archive presents “Coming to a Theatre Near You – Gems of Hong Kong Film Trailers”, a unique exhibition featuring a selection of trailers from the 1940s to the present. The showcased trailers include classics such as “The House of 72 Tenants”(1963 and 1973), “Game of Death” (1978), and “Days of Being Wild”(1990). The exhibition also features the interviews with editors, actors, directors, producers and distributors to offer a fresh perspective on the art of filmmaking.
