Even people who are wealthy could buy just what they use. They might buy more expensive items, but maybe only have one or two designer bags instead of 20, or just the amount of food they will eat before it goes bad. It doesn't have to be a poor or rich thing, it's just not about being wasteful.

I feel underconsuming is very misleading. Most of what I see labled as underconsumption like using the same water bottle for years, thrifting clothes where possible, utilizing stuff you already have, having only 1 or 2 makeupe items of each kind is not underconsumption to me. It's normal consumption. Buying what you need, using what you have and maybe throw a few fun things in every now and then is normal consumption. Not overspending is not frugal, it's normal. Frugality starts were concious effort us put into keeping cost as low as reasonably possibly. Most what I see labled as underconsumptions on social media is just not participating in every trend that is marketed to you.

I'd love to see people who are "underconsuming" intentionally and not because they have to.
For example someone who likes makeup who can actually do all the makeup looks they could possibly need with just a few products.
Or someone could share their actual capsule wardrobe and how it works for different seasons and occasions instead of an influencer sharing 15 possible capsules that you get to buy for each season.
Or maybe a minimal cleaning supplies kit instead of people who use 3 separate vacuum cleaners and 15 specialised tools to clean a single room.
There could be more content about whether things stand the test of time instead of reviewing new features. Or versatility. I'd rather have 1 item that lasts decades than a new shiny one every 3 years.

I love this idea of lifestyle > aesthetic. Overconsumption seems reactive-- even out of control-- while under/adequate consumption feels proactive.
