Samsung had never used LG-made OLED panels in its smart TVs. With the historic agreement signed between the two companies, we will now see LG's panels on Samsung TVs.

Samsung Electronics and LG Display signed a strategic agreement for OLED panel supply, according to the report served by the South Korean press agency MTN. Under the agreement between the two giant companies, LG will be obliged to supply OLED panels to Samsung.

LG will supply 1 million OLED panels for its South Korean competitor's smart TVs in the second half of 2021. Next year, this figure will increase fourfold. So in 2022, LG will produce 4 million OLED panels to be shipped to Samsung.

Analysts attribute this move to Samsung's increase in LCD panel prices and the company's technological difficulties in manufacturing QD-OLED. Apparently, the company had to order panels from LG in order to maintain profitability in the TV business.
