The livelihood of handloom and handicraft Artisans across Jammu and Kashmir is badly effective due to lack of administration's attention
The livelihood of handloom and handicraft Artisans across Jammu and Kashmir is being threatened by the corrupt officers of Jammu and Kashmir trade promotion organisation. Jammu and Kashmir trade promotion organisation in collaboration with India trade promotion organisation have organised 43rd India international trade fair from November 14th november 27 2024 at Bharat Mandapam complex new Delhi the basic purpose of these trade fairs is to give a chance to small manufactures and artisans in and out side the state,so that they can also benefit from globalization.this provides a platform that enables these disadvantaged people to rise above poverty and improve their standard of living,but these so called trade promotion organisations are having Nexus with the fake Artisans and traders,who are being alloted stalls in these trade fairs.by collecting huge amount on account of rentals from these fake Artisans and traders,with the result the poor Artisans are kept away in participating in this trade fair. Although,such type of trade fair was definitely an Ecstatic opportunity for Handlooom and handicraft Artisans of Jammu and Kashmir. The JKTPO was established by the Jammu and Kashmir government with the intent to provide a platform to the handloom and handicraft Artisans of Jammu and Kashmir,But unfortunately the JKTPO are wasting crores of rupees provided by the state government gainning nothing at all,only are successful in full filling their selfish interests. Trade fairs are a back boon for handlooom and handicraft because they have so much to display and exhibit and buyers can get quality products at these trade fairs,but they are being kept away from the participation for the reason,that they are not able to pay rentals.otherwise these events are a podium for poor handlooom and handicraft Artisans. But, unfortunately the activities and functioning of the officers of JKTPO is against the interests of Handloom and handicraft Artisans.the JKTPO was supposed to provide services to promote Kashmir handloom and handicraft through Actual Artisans,but the officers are doing against the Aims and objects of JKTPO. The state government has allocated and disbursed An amount of 1.5 crore to JKTPO,for providing facilities and rentals to handlooom and handicraft Artisans of Jammu and Kashmir for their participation,but JKTPO have failed in providing stalls to the handloom and handicraft Artisans of Jammu and Kashmir. It,is pertinent to mention here that 30 artisan in addition to other so called traders have paid 45000rupees each as rentals to JKTPO,while as there are no guidelines or orders from the state government to collect rentals from handloom and handicraft Artisans of Jammu and Kashmir the callous atitude and the role of Managing director of JKTPO has threatened the livelihood of these poor Artisans.JKTPO,is not focussing on trade promotion for the Artisans,while as they are focussing on other traders,which are not produced in jammu and kashmir.the Managing director of JKTPO and other officers are making efforts to increase traders foot fall without seeing the interests of Jammu and Kashmir and that is the reason that maximum stalls are being alloted to fake traders in this trade fair.JKTPO,has allotted 114 stalls in this on going trade fair,where limited stalls have been allotted to artisans of Jammu and Kashmir.The Managing director and other officers of JKTPO has abused its dominant positions by imposing unfair conditions on poor handlooom and handicraft Artisans of Jammu and Kashmir.JKTPO,rental charges are the highest in the country,this high cost reduced the participation of poor Artisans of Jammu and Kashmir. We,the handloom and handicraft Artisans of Jammu and Kashmir appeal to honarable chief minister of union territory of Jammu and Kashmir,that high level enquiry may be initiated against the corrupt officers of JKTPO.And in future the interests of poor Artisans of Jammu and Kashmir may be safe guarded.
