I would rather have they add superheated planetary rings (when close to stars), big volcanos, comets, aurora's, accretion disks, ring shadows, eclipses, reentry effects, bigger convection cells in large stars etc.
And change combat so that hardpoints can be torn off + bullet ricochets.

The reason they haven't added a new ship is because they gave up on elite a long time ago. They wanted to squeeze as much as they could out of elite with as little work possible.

I suspect your poll results is the way it is because a lot of the dedicated space sim people have given up and moved on after it was clear that Frontier were not going in the direction they wanted.

The caveat being that you suggested the new ship would be focused on thargoids. I don't really care about thargoids either way and I'm more fussed about the world over story events

The reason why they haven't added a new ship, to a space sim, is the same reason they didn't release interiors to ships.... They have lost the drive and creativity that requires such content to be released.

To me its not that there aren't enough ships in the game, its that over half of them are obsolete because another ship does it better in almost every way.

Definitely feel the ship selection is good.
Don’t care about fighting Thargoids either.
I want magical 3 option, integrate the “legs” component and the ship portion and remove the separate ridiculous grinds. When I’m told that a legit farming technique is to log out and in again over and over… the game has some serious gameplay loop issues.

You asked for a new ship to fight thargoids.. that's why I chose FPS thargoids... we already have ships to fight aliens. Ask me about the Panther Clipper or a new exploration ship and my answer would be very different then!

I would really like to see more interesting planets. Maybe earthlike with animals and plants. Water and more. More on foot stuff like ship repair in and outside. Discover large crashed ships inside and more.

Personally it boggles my mind that they haven't added any more ships in almost 4 years. It would be like Warframe not having new Warframes... Or Destiny not having new guns
