I’ve worked on several of these R1s, lovely little things to work on, they were popular for kitbuilds in the 60s because the chassis’s were genuinely so good, I’ve worked on all manner of R1 drives, from original unmodified locos, to kits, to modified RTRs, to a custom model of Thomas I made for my brother last year, easy to set right when they go wrong and I think that’s a testament to the longevity of these older models, it takes a lot to kill ‘em

So i have a old traing jinty, ( the one that has a smoke unit ) and it runs decently well but it makes sparks, a weird grinding noise, and smells bad after running. What do i do? Its from like he 70s-80s btw. Thanks!
