(A) not "waste". If you think that, then they "wasted" every dime they spent on food.
(B) home ownership neither is nor should be the ultimate goal for housing. Pimping it is as so is bad financial advice.
(C) home ownership is also "wasting" money when you coule be investing it smartly.

Until the laws give landlords more tools for dealing with squatters, this is personally not for me. I live in CA. Maybe it's different elsewhere.

The average American wastes $330K on rent from age 22-35.
Here's what I did instead:
- Bought 4plex for $380K in 2018
- FHA loan - only 5% down ($24K)
- Lived in 1 unit for free
- Other units covered mortgage
You can do this with FHA loans:
- 3.5% down possible
- 580+ credit score
- Must be primary residence
- House hack multi-units
This was my first step to owning 47 properties.
