Nobody understands why I take long showers. It's one of the few times in my life that I have time to myself, where I can think about stuff and not be interrupted. Time alone is a luxury lots of people take for granted. Some don't even realize it. It's a wonderful thing, time alone.

There is nothing more rejuvenating than the warm, calm embrace of "mmmmmm, warm water".

My brother in Christs, this is my short shower

This explains SO much as to why my adhd ass always feels so energized after a 30 minute shower.

Hm. I have kinda the opposite problem that's being described here. There's a lot of things I want to do, specifically with my writing, and I definitely have the time to do it but I just... Rot. Like, whenever I'm not at school or work I just lay in bed and do nothing, and I spend the whole day wishing I was doing something but I guess just not REALLY wanting it enough. It's become something I genuinely despise, to the point that I sometimes wish I could experience the other side of it. Like, some twisted part of me yearns to experience what it's like to "earn" a break, if you will. Like "I've been working so hard, it's time to rest." I would love to feel that. Right now when I'm "relaxing", all I feel is guilt. I work part time and I'm only in 4 classes, so I know it's not a time thing. I'd really love to figure this out so I can start walking the talk of my ambition.

Edit: Hey, everyone. I really appreciate the kind words and ideas for working on resolving this problem. The community here is so kind and understanding and it's really amazing. The long and short of it is right now I'm trying to work on being okay when my days aren't productive. My therapist says I need to derive my self-value from things beyond just "how hard I'm working".

I'm not gonna vent here too much, but to anyone else struggling with feeling like you aren't working hard enough, or you're "faking your passion", just know you're not alone. I hear you, you are seen. All we can do is love ourselves and have the patience to allow ourselves to grow. Additionally, any of you giving me advice, please also apply it to yourself. I'm not accusing anyone of not doing that, but just in case you needed to hear it, you are worth the same kindness you spread to others.

Thanks again, and let's all keep doing our best ❤️

The shower is a precious place to just exist. My mind always goes wild with ideas and thoughts about my day, and boy, is it ever pleasant.

Plus, you end up getting clean. It's all wins with showers.

I relate to this big time. A long walk/jog in the morning helps me with this. About an hour of quiet before the madness starts.

It's ironic that this is playing twenty times when I'm taking a shower. A powerful OOF was received.

When I was deeply in depression, I still had one (long) shower a day (at 3am, because, again, depression, but still.)
Because that really was the moment when I could be at peace, just feeling the butning hot water on me.

This also works for casual biking and short strolls in the park! You get the benefit of being alone with your thoughts and the fresh air that can calm you when things get too chaotic in your thoughts.

Ever since I moved out on my own, my water heater has precisely 17 minutes of hot water. I used to take 30-40 minute showers almost daily. I miss them dearly. Lol
