8 row on strip 12 row on planter.
there are some of the coulter machines that are running shallow in the area. since they're putting the fertilizer right in the seat zone they have to be careful how much product they can put down and how quickly they can get behind the strip till with the planter. for my soul the shank is a fantastic unit. it works as a primary till age device. when watching the shank go through the soil you could see how its lifting and heaving that soil up and how it shattering our compaction layers at that two and 4 inch area. I am not overly worried about sidewall smearing in our soils. I also like that the fertilizer is 6 inches away from the seed so in a couple days you can be planting on the strips.

soil warrior has both knife and coulter. they have a good system going. there coulter if I remember can put fertilizer down deeper then dawn units.
if you have red River Valley soil I have only hope for you. lol. you know what packs in your soil
I am putting down 400lbs ahead of planter.
strip till vs full till on my farm is a no brainer. strip till gives me water savings of no till with stands of conventional till. old way of thinking is we had to fall or sping a primary pass, then 1 or 2 finish passes. i like spring stripping. saves me on equupment cost, trips in field and most falls i wouldnt have time anyhow. plus then what would i do for fertility. there are many benefits of putting fertility at 8 inches vs 2-4 inches.

with the globe out on the nose of the tractor it seemed to go very well. I did just some fine tuning of the aggressiveness settings so it's not snaking. on the free was signal and 1500 series globe each pass was very straight. but from pass to pass the line could drift a foot or more. this year I am going to try a 6500 series globe and pay for good satellite service. that has been a good 5 inch or tighter system for other guys around me. poor man's rtk.
