BAHAHA props to grandma for helping you make "jelly filled donuts" when neither of you knew what you were doing. Gotta love Brock's weird english dubbing for making a bunch of children (including me for a bit) think jelly filled donuts just looked like that.

We need a follow up short where he explains the taste of the jelly filled donut. Because I am not nearly brave enough to try it myself.

I used to eat white rice with sugar in it as a sweet treat, so I could see jelly working.

The laziness of American censorship, you change what it’s called but keep the look of Onigiri 😂

Calling rice balls donuts is proof that localizers shouldn't be allowed to cook

I can't believe Merry is a living victim of the Pokemon Jelly Filled Donut incident.

American censorship be wild sometimes
Edit: thx for the likes and I apparently started a war in my replies over the differences between localization and censorship lol

As a kid this scene actually prompted me to research what this food item was, where I then read Japan makes rice balls with plum inside, so the first time I tried making them I put fresh cut plums in them having no idea what Umeboshi was. It wasn't terrible honestly. But yeah that scene in Pokemon was so confusing in America where everyone knew what donuts were.

In Poland Brock have said: "ciasteczko ryżowe", which means a "rice cookie" - welp, I suppose it is closer to onigiri, than "jelly filled doughnut"...

Nothing beats a jelly filled donut, except potentially a drying pan

Fun fact, that dub made jelly filled rice balls an actual thing, the combination is suprisingly good

It's actually not a bad combination depending on the type of rice and the type of jelly you use. If you add some sugar to the rice while cooking it, it can come out like a decent dessert.
