This is one experience of distributing Srila Prabhupada’s books in this years’s Christmas book marathon.

With powerful determination, Srila Prabhupada acted on his guru’s ideas for printing and distributing books. Before departing for America in 1965, with little financial support he began translating and publishing the Srimad-Bhagavatam, a monumental work about God and His devotees. He carried a trunkload of the first three volumes with him as he crossed the Atlantic on an ocean freighter to America. Alone in his early days in the West, he was not shy about selling the three-volume set to anyone who showed genuine interest.

In 1972, the Macmillan Company published Prabhupada’s Bhagavad-gita As It Is. It received acclaim from scholars at many leading universities and quickly gained popularity. It can now be read in over one hundred languages.

Every year during December devotees at ISKCON centers around the world make a great effort in distributing Srila Prabhupada’s books to people everywhere and spread good vibes, spiritual wisdom and make friends with people.

We have been also doing this service for almost 12 years now. I can certainly say it just gets better and better.

Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita no one is more dear to Me than one who distributes this wisdom of Bhagavad Gita to other and there will never be one more dear than him.

Bhagavad Gita 18.68-69

य इदं परमं गुह्यं मद्भ‍क्तेष्वभिधास्यति ।
भक्तिं मयि परां कृत्वा मामेवैष्यत्यसंशय: ॥

For one who explains this supreme secret to the devotees, pure devotional service is guaranteed, and at the end he will come back to Me.

न च तस्मान्मनुष्येषु कश्चिन्मे प्रियकृत्तम: ।
भविता न च मे तस्मादन्य: प्रियतरो भुवि ॥ ६९

There is no servant in this world more dear to Me than he, nor will there ever be one more dear.
