I know so many ladies who did all the surgery and chemo, etc and still died from the Insidious disease of Breast Cancer. We NEED A CURE and more importantly Prevention!

I never even used to like taking paracetamol. My body was a temple and all that but when I had my breast cancer diagnosis I took everything I was offered. Still here seven years on…🤞

As a stage 3 BC survivor and Reiki Master I have experienced that alternative therapies like Reflexology and Reiki are a supportive wellbeing tool in helping cope with treatment and not a replacement treatment. I myself found some others doing alternative therapies, tried to focus solely on alternatives and discourage me from medical treatment. My response to them is not repeatable!
Had SMX, Chemo and Radio with Reiki and Reflexology to help promote relaxation. 5 year survivor .Ever grateful to my local hospital , the lovely staff and the Big C wellbeing centre. Plus the genuine caring people who use their alternative therapies to support treatment.

I'm all about eating healthy, exercising, meditating, acupuncture, all that. But when it came time to treat my cancer I did all the treatments because I have two kids and I didn't want to ever look back and regret not doing everything in my power to be here for them. Will my cancer come back? Who knows? None of us are guaranteed but we all do what we feel is best at the time.

I’m in post recovery from radiation over 5 months ago. Early diagnosis led to a lumpectomy. Now I’m in hormone therapy of 2 medications; physical therapy for my arms scar tissue and cording. I’m also getting acupuncture to help the other side effects of the medication. I have been living a holistic lifestyle most of my life and have a background in alternative care. This still didn’t stop me from following my doctor’s recommendations. I thought, I believe in alternative treatments, but not as my first line treatment. We need a cure for this horrible disease. God help us all!

It's such a difficult decision to make ,when I was diagnosed with her2 positive breast cancer ,I didn't want chemotherapy and did look into alternative treatments, I decided for my Daughter that I could not risk not having chemotherapy, I've had mastectomy to ,but was lucky my cancer was diagnosed at early stage ,so didn't need Radiotherapy, now I do the eating certain foods ,cut out Alcohol, take magnesium and MSM supplements, I no longer need to take pain killers, I do suffer bone pain due to having to take hormone inhibitors so I use fresh ginger which helps

I had a cousin that refused surgery. She had a lumpectomy and then tried to holistically remove her cancer. It didn’t work. She died before she turned 35. Since this runs in my family I know that if it’s ever my diagnosis, I will have the full mastectomy in a heartbeat.

My father had his entire stomach removed, had chemotherapy, and immunotherapy....He did EVERYTHING to cure his Stomach cancer. NOTHING worked. He died a year and a couple of months after his diagnosis. I wish doctors would stop putting band aids on Cancer and acting like THEIR way is the only way when it's not. Chemotherapy and surgery is a band aid, Chemotherapy is poison. I wish my father was still alive. My aunt also did everything by the book for her breast cancer, had a mastectomy and she died. My grandmother also died from Cancer. I'm tired of the dismissive way doctors are as if their way is saving lives, no it just buys a little extra time but never cures the Cancer. The root cause is never addressed. RIP to everyone who has lost a loved one from this horrible disease and also to Ananda Lewis who attempted to give her body a fighting chance through alternative methods....💔

Thanks, Liz, for the clarity of this post for all those who are making tough decisions at the most challenging time in our lives. Treatment choice is ours, but guidance on potential consequences is always invaluable.

For me the only question is, why hasn't SOC (standard of care) medicine/conventional medicine got better answers for women than amputation like it's still the dark ages or something? $29 bn dollars annually in the US to fund research and the UK is similar, and yet we have no better options than slash and burn? We should all be asking this question.

Cancer returns with mainstream treatments too. I fully advocate homeopathic and naturalistic treatments, but fir me it was in conjunction with conventional treatments as advised by my homeopath. However, you are being critical assuming people are being wrongly informed and decide not to have any mainstream treatments. The responsibility lies with the patient not the practitioner. There needs to be better treatments than what is just available through the NHS. Sadly, you are wrong, people can and do live for many years managing stage 4 breast cancer. My friend chose not to have any mainstream breast cancer treatment at 34, she managed her cancer for 30 years using holistic treatments.

So after 4 years, she became metastatic . This is exactly the same number of years people who take mainstream medicarltion relapse as well . Don't get me wrong, i had everything during my treatment. But still, i see people i know who took everything relapse a lot and become metastatic patients after 3 to 5 years

How dare you dr liz for shaming another woman in her right to choose what is best for her many go down the conventional route and still die …did you not also experience recurrence with conventional…..people should have the ability to choose just like you did in your journey. STOP SHAMING PEOPLE FOR THEIR CHOICES WE WANT A FUCKING CURE WHERE ITS IRRADICATED FOR GOOD

I think it's horrid that the medical system has come up with no other solutions than to chop off your breasts! My grandmother had a double mastectomy. I am higher risk and truly feel that conventional treatment is barbaric and inhumane. I pray that everyone would be dx early enough to avoid invasive treatments! 💔
