Not just soldiers, a lot of Spaniards have changed their gender since last year when a new law was passed which doesn't require you to go through surgery, hormone therapy or even have the diagnosis of a psychologist to be recogniced as trans.
You just need to go to civil registration, do some paperwork and between 1 week - 3 months you are legally whatever gender you like.

I served in the American military and I can agree about the female's getting better treatment and all the hook ups etc. I served with my heart + soul and grinded my way to be a meritorious Sergeant that took 4.5yrs maintaining + exceeding ALL standards. Yet a female who just looks beautiful but is below avg on the force for mental + physical standards gets to cheese her way to the same rank in just 2yrs and gets overseas opportunities for just being a "good worker". Thats the real betrayal to me and why i got out questioning my service.
