I heard that they โwalkedโ the statues into place once the statues were complete. Theyโd use rope and throw it over the top to rock it back and forth causing it to walk. Also heard it was ploynesians, the ancestors of Hawaiians had used it for their village as a port when they lived their centuries ago. Ships would stop by and get their ships fixed or supplies. They became cautious with outsiders when they kept trying to kidnap and enslave them. Eventually they just ran out of resources. Just another version I heard
