It depends on your plumbing. Smaller houses can be difficult to get the hot water the length on the home so it’s more convenient to leave it on max heat

Literally never had this problem. If anything I have the opposite problem. I can have the hot tap all the way on but if I turn the cold tap even a fraction the water turns instantly freezing

Or you just need a new mixer valve. Thats usually the problem in this case.

Just set you max to what you want to shower at and set your shower the the max. That way you dont waste energy by heating water up just to mix it down with cool water again.
