In a remarkable display of heroism, a guide dog named Simon sacrificed his life to save a 4-year-old boy.
In September 2013, David Furukawa was walking his young son, Will, to school. Because Furukawa is visually impaired, his guide dog, Simon, a boxer, was by their side.
As they crossed an intersection in Atlanta, a car ignored a stop sign and struck Simon first, then Furukawa. Despite sustaining serious injuries, Simon heroically leapt and pushed 4-year-old Will out of harm's way just before the car could hit him.
Family members swiftly took Simon to a nearby emergency vet, but unfortunately, the courageous dog did not survive 💔
