Has a peaceful yet powerful presence to it. Every time I walk into the room I'm drawn to the eyes of the tiger.

It's nice to sit on. It's soft & yet also feels very durable.

Authentic Tibetan wool from Tibet. 4mm pile height & hand-knotted. Meaning each yarn knot is firmly tied in Tibetan handknotting style, making it much more durable and a lifelong product with normal use, as opposed to hand-tufted which is simple a yarn loop hanging on a cloth that is pasted by latex to the backing.

Raj Giandeep: How many different people are working on this project?

Urgyen: Great question. If you include the process prior to wool processing, it would start with the nomads rearing sheep in Tibet, who would then have the wool sent to Nepal via trucks. It is then received here by the material importers, then carded and sent over to our facility, after which we send them for dyeing. Dyeing involves a whole team as well, and after that, it is sent back to the facility. At the facility, a specific graph or 'weaving map' will have been made by the graph designer, which is then printed large format and handed to weavers. After weaving, it is cut off the loom, and trimmed to meet proper carving and height requirements. After this stage, finally it is washed with water and shampoo by a washing facility, and dried in the sun, after which it is stretched to custom sizes by a facility that specializes in this. The final stage involves double checking that it meets client requirements by the company staff, and packing it to be shipped to its destination. You may be quite familiar with the logistics of shipping before it reaches the client's home.

I always like to say to our clients that a Tibetan rug involves a hundred pairs of hands, and feeds a thousand people considering the families of the people who work in this beautiful community. I hope this gives a sense of the amount of people involved in a Tibetan rug production process as it works today.
