High fat or keto diets could be destroying your gut health, causing histamine issues, inflammation, even gallstones. Carnivore & keto may be all the rage, but are they doing you good long-term?

High-fat / keto diets are dangerous to the microbiome.

Dietary fat activates intestinal mast cells, which release histamine as well as pro-inflammatory prostaglandins.

These prostaglandins increase intestinal permeability, aka: a leaky gut.

The higher the fat intake and the longer this is done for, the greater the negative impact to the gut and inflammation levels.

Saturated fat also binds to LPS - a very inflammatory and harmful toxin. This type of fat facilities LPS’ absorption into the bloodstream, which generates systemic inflammation.

Fibre however, does the opposite.

Just be careful of the restrictive or trendy diets out there. They may work for you for a short time, but ultimately these ultra-low-carb diets can produce some pretty deleterious effects in people.
