I always try to operate the aircraft. I fly if they have a constant speed prop at the minimum RPM for cruise according to the altitude. Nothing harder on an engine and higher RPM than needed. I climb out at 2500 and I usually cruise around 2300.I also adjust my fuel to about 75° lead of peak. This lets the engine run a lot cleaner internally.
