Easy to play when you smash a board with your A10 but what do you do with whiffs out of position - barrel ? If there’s no fold equity at $150 not sure what you gain pre flop by “isolating” an aggressive whale. Seems pretty marginal and somewhat more if a gamble as you don’t know where you are on most flops.

If you check out of turn, you aren’t allowed to raise if someone bets. Dealer should have been on top of this.

Once he checks out of turn, he can't raise. If you make a passive action out of turn, you can't then make an aggressive action when bet into.

If he has 270 behind after raising to 200 I (obviously not being at the table) would've just jammed on the flop

What your opponent did on the flop is called angling. Checking out of turn only to raise your flop bet. I would have called him out on it.
