Greens are cooked differently all over the south. I don't put vinegar in my greens
I cook them with bacon and ham hocks diced onions and drizzle hot sauce over them served with rice and butter beans

Collards aren't supposed to be drowned in vinegar. You just need a lil bit because it goes a long way. When you cook them you still should be able to taste the greens!

I love these guys honesty! Too much vinegar is gross fr.

It depends on how collard greens are made. I had them at Cracker Barrel and they were bitter for my tastes. Then I had fresh, homemade collard greens made by fam in Texas and I ate the whole thing up.

Some people, especially some restaurants, don't pay attention to the acid levels of the vinegar they use. The reason I point out restaurants specifically is they typically buy in bulk and whatever is cheapest. That, and just slopping in whatever amount spills into the pot, leads to overly strong greens. And then there are some that just have to include other acids like lemon juice, etc.

Collard greens are definitely an acquired taste, you acquire the taste when your mom says you won’t eat anything else until you’ve eaten them. Suddenly, they taste great

I LOVE collard greens. Mama would make bacon fat cornbread and put a ton of salt pork in the greens. She would mix them with mustard greens or sometimes turnip greens with a few cut up turnips and serve them with the vinegar juice from a bottle of Tabasco peppers. 😋

Collards are an acquired taste…yes!! My Me-Maw (God Rest) made them so amazing!!! She was from Raleigh, North Carolina. To this day, whenever I have them I think of her 💚💚

I’m from Texas and I didn’t truly love collards until I was an adult. They have to be cooked to remove a lot of the bitterness (you won’t remove it all) and then the vinegar balances it out. One of my favorite things to throw in an InstaPot is pig’s feet, any kind of bitter green, chopped tomatoes (and onions and/or spicy peppers if you like), and a bit of apple cider vinegar.

Collard greens are definitely an acquired taste. I grew up in Wisconsin. I hated collard greens The first time I tried him... But now that I live in Alabama, I love them. Overtime I've come to love them

When I tried Greens for the first time, my host suggested picking up a little bit of yams and together it was so good. Little sweet a little bitter. Yummy

I had never had collards until I married.a southern gal. She cooked them with ham hocks and served them with apple cider vinegar to drizzle to your personal taste. In relatively short order I got to love that combination. Of course I've never really had a problem with vinegar my favorite salad dressing is Italian with herbs oil and vinegar and I also had a love for sauerbraten prior to that..
