I can't even fathom the number of people who have lived (and passed) their lives locked away, dropped off or abandoned, when it was entirely possible to have been helped with even the most basic care. "Set aside" with the assumption that their mental health issues were "simply" that. Even a hundred years ago psych hospitals and institutions were atrocious, the care was... anything but, staff were entirely unkind, and even cruel, where many were left to rot and suffer. Many... most.... never saw their true potental, much less another day of freedom.

Today, there are fewer people hospitalized or institutionalized because science CAN rule out things like this... but it takes a doctor who takes the extra step to confirm the behaviors are caused by biological, rather than psychological. I cant imagine how many lives we could have saved, were ASSUMPTIONS not followed blindly, and patients given a chance.

Why you do not jump to conclusions. You have to treat the obvious, but also look for a cause. Especially if it is sudden.
