How really repair cable.
1. Use elettrical tape for small incision.
2. Cut , cover it with heat shrinkable tube and solder broken single cable.
3. Finish to close with another shrinkable tube

Do not use anything flammable to "repair" broken wires or cables, use electrical tape, its built for this.
