I'm almost 24 and I've had those exact allergies you described with birch related fruits and veggies since I was 5. (except for pears. Wow I feel so lucky to be able to eat them)
I've already had appointments with allergists but aside from that, this is the very first time I hear someone describe my allergy so precisely. Well, I know you're also an allergist, but still !!
It makes me very happy as very often people don't believe me or make fun of me when I explain my allergies. "Peach allergy doesn't exist" or "If you can eat an apple pie, you can eat apples" are sentences I've heard hundreds of times in my life. And I love all of those forbidden fruits. 😢
So thank you very much for spreading the word and making us (I know I can't be alone in this) feel validated ☺

This explains so much!! I can not eat fresh peaches, apricots, pear skin, etc. without a reaction but one of my favourite things is jarred peaches and pears and I never have reaction! I have a lot of allergies and a lot of them are considered abnormal so it’s interesting for me to see other people with similar things

I had OAS for a while (nothing fatal, but I would get really bad ulcers and get itchy), and while I was in the hospital for something unrelated I let them know I was allergic to fruit, and when they served me breakfast the next day nearly everything was touching fruit. The worst part is they refused to let me leave if I didn't finish at least half the food so I had to carefully eat around the contaminated part. (Thankfully the allergies mostly resolved themselves and I can eat fruit again as of a few months ago!)

Hi so I think I have a few things I may be allergic to and your explanations are helping. I have had itching in my mouth and tongue from apples and fresh pineapple but not the can pineapple or frozen pineapple and from pears. I have had mild swelling in my throat from hibiscus it was in a drink I had from Starbucks I was unaware of the allergy because i didn’t know it was in the drink I got about half way through the drink and couldn’t swallow anymore and it was semi hard to breathe. I took an Allegra that I had to crush up and it helped a bit. I’ve talked to a few doctors but they try to say that those aren’t allergic reactions and that it’s not real that I’ve had the flu but then I test negative for the flu.

I have a relative that are allergic to Birch pollen, Grass pollen, Mugwort (hope the last one is right translated) And he is allergic to so many fruits, veggies and berries, He even react severally on normal ice berg salad and Rice. They doctor said its possible but she refused to write salad and rice in his papers. because she didn't believe it as possible although he told her all the symptoms and it was the same as with all the other fruit. Even i he cooked fruit/caned fruit he still have a bad allergic reaction. so he dont get other food in school sometimes for everything is not on paper from the doctor.

Yep. Explains why I can eat apple pie and be chilling but if I eat a fresh apple I look like I've got fresh lip injections 😢
