I acquired a Strandberg Boden. I'm an older man. I've been playing about 40 years. Of course, the holy grail for me is the Les Paul Gibson. Then the Fender Strat, P.R.S. Custom, an e.s.339 and for shits and giggles a decent 12 string. It took me 35 years to obtain these guitars. While searching for my collection, I have played conservatly 90% of known guitars of famous makers. Well, I have these guitars and couldn't be any happier until my buddy handed me this thing that has a triangle for a neck, not much of a body, headless (ugh) but I love the old wiggle stick.
Hence, the P.R.S and Strat. By the way, it was always a struggle, which was my number one. Alternating between the Les Paul and the P.R.S. To me, Gibson has the best sound for what I play. Classic Rock. But the P.R.S. has a very nice trem system that stays in tune pretty well and is the easiest to play. I'm wasn't going to spend the money for the L.P. with a factory trem. I have a family, and I'm not a millionaire. My biggest beef with any Gibson L.P. is the weight. My back after 39 years of heavy construction is shot.
So my friend hands me this thing. The very first thing that came to mind was how feather lite it is. It took me by surprise.
So I played a couple of chords, not into an amp. It felt to me simply amazing. It also has fan frets, which are stainless steel.
Didn't take long at all to get used to it. What did take a while to get used to was how lite it was. I'm drooling right about now. I mean, I've seen them before, but it was so different, and I'm so traditional that I never tried one. So I thought as soon as I plugged it in, the disappointment would set in. Yeah, I always would look for the lightest guitar. But this thing was so light, I thought there was no way it could sound decent. I mean, I couldn't feel it when I straped it on. Playing it thru my tube head Marshall, I knew I must have one. The neck, I guess you either love it or hate it. Needless to say, I loved it. The fan frets made it easier to play and a loved the clean sound and the dirty, dirty sounds. I really couldn't believe it. So I inspected it. The quality is impeccable. The only problem was the price. I mean, it wasn't out of my league. But it was made overseas. I had never paid this much for an Indonesia built guitar. It came close to 2k with taxes. So I did my research and found it wasn't an American guitar. It was Sweeden The Sweeden made ones were definitely out of my league. So I very carefully examined it. The build quality was awesome. It is so comfortable and a joy to play. I had to have it. Now, a year later, I have to say it's my number one. Never had to change pickups. It stays in tune better than my P.R.S. it has a locking nut. It's just a joy to play. Don't get me wrong. I love my L.P. but I have to sit down to play it. My back is so bad I have to sit down to play any of my guitars except for the Stranberg. And i love to stand while I play. I guess what I'm trying to say is I wanted to hate on it. It's not American. It's not conventional. But it is my favorite guitar. We all search for that magical tone and feel. I suggest if you haven't just try one. They also have hard tail and non fanned frets. 40 years it took me. Just give one a try. It's probably not for everyone. But if you do like it, it is hard to put down.
Sorry for rambling. It's that good. Have a great day.
