maybe they didn't want a spooky sound playing constantly since a lot of new players, kids included, would probably sink a lot and get too spooked to play anymore, that and likely they were saving these sounds to communicate actual scary stuff, like the red sea, or the various events that happen in open sea. Adding a spooky sinking sound would probably overshadow everything else.

Never heard that music no one was able to sink me during the beta and alpha tests so I wouldn’t know. Almost no one wanted to pvp anyways because we only had a few hours to experience the sea

I can hear elements of the beta ship sinking sound in the sounds for the cursed mermaid statues

I think that sound has been re added in hourglass, after youre sunk sometimes a cutscene plays and shows you and your crewmates floating around the wreck of your ship

As someone with major thalassaphobia, that ominous music combined with suddenly being stranded in the ocean would make me stop playing pretty quick so I’m very happy I started playing when I did 😂

I'm glad for that. I just started playing, and as I have a noticeable thalassophobia, I am one step away from panic every time i end up in the open water. This would make it even worse.

That's bloody terrifying. It was removed so that players would still play the game, instead of shivering in a foetal position on their bed due to lack of sleep from trauma.

Ooh! I have one! They removed hit registration after the beta version for an April Fool’s update, but they forgot to add it back in!
