We were all discussing our ‘why’s’ before and during the Camino and I don’t think I ever really gave myself a why. Why am I doing the Camino de Santiago?
I never really had any goals for it or a reason to even do it - I just knew I wanted to do it.
After completing it though and seeing how much my body is actually capable of, I think I finally can share my reason why.
My why, is to know that I can. To know my body is strong and resilient and can walk miles and miles every single day. But not only my body but my mind too. When my body felt like failing, it was my mind that kept me going. To know I’ve got a good enough mental attitude and optimism, that I can out run and out smart anything if I really wanted.
Completing the Camino and finally understanding my why made me feel so proud. I wish I could tell my younger self that all those negative things I thought about myself are totally irrelevant because I just did this. I did what I thought was going to be hard. And my god it was hard but I still did it.
