One aspect that I disliked in Netflix's Avatar was their disservice to Katara’s character. See, in the cartoon, Katara is confident, caring, and strong-willed. This is evident at the beginning of the series when Katara stands up to Sokka, and when she calms Aang down at the Southern Air Temple.

However, in Netflix’s adaptation these qualities of Katara’s are absent. One example of this is when Sokka reprimands Katara and instead of defending herself confidently she shrinks down to Sokka’s authority. Also Katara’s power is absent in live action as she can barely lift a bubble.

Therefore, if we compare Katara’s introduction from the cartoon to her introduction in live action, Katara in live action is inferior to her cartoon counterpart. And this inferiority is a major misstep because in the cartoon, Katara is a very interesting character and very influential to other characters. So by diluting Katara’s character much of the show suffers as well.

I knew the live action was going to be crap when I found out the original creators left because of creative differences

This is the 3rd member of the Gaang I've heard is basically the opposite of their true character. That's just wrong
