This is one of the shorts that hits me hard. My family trauma was instability; the family motto for 5 generations was never trust a man, only survive through family. No matter how much they used and hated you. I cried and had anxiety attacks about moving in with my now-fiance... One of the best decisions i ever made.
Im so glad my mom is considering therapy this year.

Mom would always say i needed to be the center of attention... In reality, every b day, special occasion or family event was over shadowed by her Oscar winning performance of the "fun mom"!!! 😖 What's worse was when she divorced she pivoted to competition of the BFs. I was too young, but it didn't stop her from presenting me as a test or distraction if she found a better one..

How do you be less independent when nobody around you is willing to take up the slack? Like, I had a minor operation and couldn't walk, and I ended up having to scream at people to get my needs met.
