The insert may be DIY copper plated, zippo doesn't sell copper plated inserts. The actual one this comes with is painted black, I think.

I must ask, when I directly & personally spoke to the spokesman of Zippo, last week.. it was explained to me that Zippo has never nor will ever produce a solid copper zippo insert.
How you managed to find this, is something interesting.
However I prefer legit Zippos. So I have to say, that shit you got sucks.
