The reason radium made that girl's jaw fall off is bc your body falsely identifies it as calcium so it tries using it for bone growth but radium doesn't have the same strength as calcium so the bones basically disintegrate

The story of the radium girls and the radium fever of the era is one of my special interests (I have done several school projects on them and one of my favorite books is about them)! The entire story is so heartbreaking and I have such a gruesome fascination with it lol

Radium is one of those scary-and-cool things that amaze me. I own three pieces of radium glassware, but decided to stop at 3 because I can’t afford to lead line a cabinet.

I LOVE THE RADIUM GIRLS!! They were truly important in actually getting more rights for workers, and I truly believe their story deserves to be told, because it’s so incredibly important to hold big companies accountable for their horrible mistreatment of humans. Human lives matter over profit, and it’s so incredibly important we keep shouting and pushing that.
